Windows XP install on SCSI

Hi,

I am currently using W98SE, I have an IDE disk as boot disk, and a Seagate
SCSI disk (4GB) as secondary, with a FAT32 partition on it.
This setup works fine.
I now want to install Windows XP on the SCSI disk, leaving my IDE boot disk
as it is.
At the beginning of install, I add the driver for my SCSI adaptor (Diamond
Fireport 40).
But at the next screen, when XP shows me the list of disk and partition
where I can install, it just shows all partitions of my IDE disk
(that I do not want to touch), and then one line saying "drive is empty", I
guess this is for the SCSI disk.
So it seems XP, although it accepted the driver for the SCSI adaptor, does
not properly see the disk.

Any idea or suggestion ?

Luc: You need to do special things to get the Diamond Fireport Working in
WinXP. Go to my webpage, where you can download the instructions and
appropriate files to get it working. http://users.rcn.com/nycman

Thanks for your answer, I am going to try it.
In the meantime, I thought a bit more to what I am trying to do, and comes
now with a new question:

Once I have installed XP on my SCSI disk, do you know if I will be able to
boot through the Fireport ?

I remember having tried the same in the past with W98.
At that time, I had the problem that the BIOS of this adaptor has no boot
support.
I believe that some people succeeded to add boot support by changing the
adaptor BIOS, but this seemed a very tricky operation.

What's your opinion ?

LUC _I am no longer using the FIreport on this computer, but I seem to
remember that mine did have a BIOS that allowed booting. This is the
Fireport 40. I believe it is the only model that does allow this: the
Fireport 20 has no BIOS and is not suitable for this purpose. My real
recommendation is to get a newer SCSI card. I currently use the Adaptec
2930CU, which can be had for not much money, and is so much easier to work
with in that it is natively supported by WinXP. However, If you have the
Fireport 40, I think you wil find that booting is supported.

I tried your driver, it worked perfectly.
I am now able to boot either from IDE on W98, or from SCSI on XP.
