Hello my friends!

I am in a need of windows backup, still i wouldn't make the whole disk
image backup, rather just a windows with all it's settings which i have
made. How to make such an image and which program to use ?

My wok desktop is important to me, the whole image of manual setup which
i have made, and it would be a sorrow to lost it once again !?

Thanks

Most people use either Norton Ghost or Acronis True Image programs.
They work well, can be automated for full/incremental backups, file,
folder, drive or whole computer backup/restore, etc. And FAST to
restore, depending on the size of the restore.

I understand you wanting to back up the system drive. Another thing you
can back up is the System State, using ntbackup.exe that comes with XP
Home and Pro. It's the complete registry and all supporting system
files needed to get the machine running again if something gets too far
out of whack.
You should actually back up the entier computer once a month or so,
scheduled depending on how much your data changes and how many
installs/uninstalls you do. Many do a Full backup once a month, and an
incremental every night when no one is using the computer.

To back up your System drive, be CERTAIN that whichever utility you
choose can use Volume Shadow Copy Services (VSS). Without it, system
files "in use" can not be backed up and the backup will be incomplete.
Ghost and True Image are fully capable that way as are other similar
programs available around the 'net.

You'd do this with a program like Acronis TrueImage. IF you want only the
Windows install - make the image immediately after the Windows install
before you install apps or data.

If you want to separate the data out, temporarily move all your data to
another drive. Otherwise, there is a considerable amount of blending
between Windows, Apps and Data. For example, after installing apps, the
System32 folder will also contain non-Windows components.

I find what you are asking for to be somewhat unclear. Perhaps you might
rephrase.
