Hello, most of the time when i try to open a folder or
file and then my hard drive seems to take over and starts
working on something. I have to wait like a minute for it
to be done. I contacted Seagate and they say its not he
harddrive and its probably windows xp. I tried formatting
and reinstalling xp and also all those diagnostic tools
also. No Help. Someone please help me on this.

This is a function of Windows Xp's indexer. When you open
a folder, the indexer reads its catalog a compares the files
so it updates the list and files you see there. Sometimes
will take up to 3 and a half minutes, depending on your
speed and system resources.

So is there anyway of stopping it from doing that, cause
its really annoying when I have a P4 3.0 800FSB and 1G of
ram and it still lags like that.
