Windows XP Home won't Start

I recently had a problem with my laptop as I went to start up the laptop, it
hangs up in the windows xp screen (blue screen). The mouse moves around but
it does not go to the startup menu. I tried to start it up in safe mode but
the same happens, just in the safe mode smaller screen. I tried using an XP
Pro ( I have XP Home OS) repair disk but it asks me for an administrator
password. To my knowledge, the password was always blank, but it didn't work
now. Is there any way I can get the password to try the repair disk? Or is
there any way I can use something else to get my my laptop to start up? Can
anyone help me with this? I just need to recover the information on my HD as
I don't want to lose it.
Thanks,
Cesar
