windows XP home won't shut down

My father is 90 years of age and is unable to close his
windows XP . Any help would be appreciated. have tried to
reload to old but did not help.
As I still use windows 98 second edition I am not familiar
with xp.

Hi!
There may be lots of reasons behind why XP wonn't
shutdown.I am giving you a link,please go through it.If you
