Late Night Guy

i appoligise if this is the wrong forums to post this in but i had to make a
guess and this was as close as i can get.

I have just finished a reload of my system.
loaded Windows XP Home and started the updates.

after SP2 i had 1 blue screen with an error message that the mother board
was not fully compliant.

i was looking for an updated BIOS to install when the system finished
loading SP3 and said Reboot.

when the reboot stopped the system will not load. i have tried to load it
in safe mode and safe mode with command prompt, and safe mode with
networking. All Fail.

i tried to use the Repair from my windows install CD but all i get is the
windows directory and no ability to make changes.

i would prefer not to have to reinstall the OS for a 3rd time in 3 days...

I need to know if someone knows how to remove the SP3 Install so i can
update the Bios and try to recover the system with out a full reinstall of
the OS.

The system is as follows.
Gigabyte Motherboard model GA-M57SLI-S4 version 1.1
Seagate Hard drive
g.skill memory 4gig
Creative sound blaster Audigy system
DVD.cDr
AMD Athlon 64x2 5600 Windsor 2.8GHZ dual core processor
PNY Geforce 8500 GT with 512Mb

OS is Windows XP Home (prior to sp1)
post install and activation
started the update process completed through sp2 no issue post sp2 started
having fails.

I'm not sure about your root issue, so I won't comment on that--but you
should be able to flash the bios without Windows running--you will need a
bootable dos floppy, and dos bios flashing code for your system and the new
bios image.

You don't want the repair console--which I think is what you are getting
from the install CD. What you want is a repair install--which you get by
starting an actual install--and when it gets to the point where it wants to
know where to do the install, it should find the already installed version
and offer to do a repair install. That's a reinstall which you were trying
to avoid, though...
