Windows XP home/total crash

Can someone help me please? I have Windows XP bought computer with it installed, no CD's everytime I have tried to instal SP express, it crashes my computer so that I end up doing total recovery, just like the day I bought it. I followed directions completly and I'm not sure what to do now? This is #3 time and supposeably I need this and I don't want crash again thanks

Anytime I loaded my Updates I've done it from the Update
Centre may take longer, works for me.

Make sure you have your windows XP Firewall on first.

The windows uipdate page is the only place I go to for updates. Thanks for about firewall but I did that also. The directions in box below the update, between that and the more info ... I followed there directions exactly
