For some reason, whenever I shutdown my computer, where the screen reads
windows xp is shutting down, it switches to installing update 1 of 2. Then it
says please do not turn off you computer. I let it sit for 24 hours, and
that's all it did. I finally just held the power button in till it shut off.
I can't find any information on this. I have installed service pack 2 on the
computer, if that helps.

thanks

Shane

This is happening to me too on several clients in the office. Except it is 1
of 3 and on XP Pro (Post SP2).

This is from the latest updates.

I am glad to see that someone else is having this problem. I am on a home
network and all three computers have had the same problem. I was concerned it
was a fake update or something, since there isn't anything on XP site about
this process. It told me it was from automatic updates. I just would like for
someone to confirm that this is a legit update.
thx.
