I just got a new Dell laptop running Windows XP SP2 and it works great. Only
problem I have is after I installed a few programs on it ie Office XP PRo
and some others the start button always displays that I have new programs
installed. Even after I reboot the start button displays new programs. I
went and opened every program in the folder and it disappeared but after I
rebooted they came back again. Any way to turn this off or stop this from
happening.

Thanks

Tom

Hii, u can turn off this feature by going to "taskbar and startmenu
properties" simply right click on windows taskbar > properties > start menu
customize : now scroll down to last option and deselect "use personalized
menus" done!

Hope this helps...,

Go to Control Panel and double click Taskbar and Start Menu.
In the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties, click on the Start
Menu tab.
Hit the Customize button.
In Customize Start Menu, click on the Advanced tab.
On the Advanced page, remove the check mark from the box next
to "Highlight newly installed programs".
Click OK twice.

Good luck
