I have 2 HP PC's with Windows XP Home on them. I cannot
get either one of them to connect to our T1 internet
connection, see & log into our Windows 2000 Server, or
even see other PCs in the workgroup. HP will not support
us because these PCs are 'Home Use' PCs and they no longer
support their use in a business environment. I hear some
people tell me that XP Home does not support Netbeui and
Windows Domains and then some others tell me it will.
Could someone please clear this up for me? All of my
other PCs are Windows 98 SE and I have had no issues at
all in this regards. Thanks!!

sounds like DNS issue. can you ping the DNS server? can you ping a public ip
like 4.2.2.1?

Two totally separate issues:

1. NetBEUI is not supported by M$ under any flavor of XP. But,
it is rarely needed, so that's not a great loss. TCP/IP is
the only network protocol most biz users need.

2. XP HE PCs cannot join a domain, which is probably what you have
with a W2K server. While you can access domain resources, the
recurring need to supply credentials is a PITA; you will likely
decide to upgrade from XP HE to XP PRO to avoid that PITA.

then check the tcp/ip settings. or post the result of ipconfig /all here.
