Hello

I had installed windows XP home edition on my Compaq
computer but I want to update to XP professional. So I
decided to update to XP professional but after that the
computer cannot detect the modem or it cannot make
connection to the internet. So after that, I decided to
restore it to home edition again and next try to install
the professional version in a different partition and I
did it, but still I have the same problem. Also, I have
been trying to find help on the Microsoft web site and I
have followed some tips on the control panel to enable or
disable ICS and Firewall but until now nothing works. I
am interesting in working with Visual Basic.net and have
IIS service to develop internet application but without
XP professional, it is impossible. So please let me know
what the problem is with XP professional. Why is too hard
to get an internet connection when it should be so simple
as with Windows 98.

Thank you,

Mauricio.

sounds like you don't have the right drivers installed for your modem.....
rightclick my computer got to properties
then the hardware tab, then device manager. look for any yellow
exclamations( those don't have drivers) now all you have to do is go online
on whatever machine you are now using and download the drivers for that
device for xp.
