I wanted to upgrade to XP from Win 98. Install went OK but when the welcome
screen came up it asked for a password. I did not create one. I tried
everything. I went to safe mode to adminisrator and still nothing. Then when
I try to go to 98 a error comes up.
A fatal exception 0e has occurred at 0028:c00051ef in VMM(01)+000041EF. The
current application will be terminated.
I feel that my computer is all mest up. I can't even uninstall XP.HELP

Log into Safe Mode and the Administrator Account. If you can get to the
Start/Run box OR Start/All Programs/Accessories/Command Prompt, type
"control userpasswords2" [less the quotation markers] and hit the keyboard
"Enter" key. From there, you can change passwords, delete them, etc. By the
way, first try logging into XP Home by leaving the password field blank
since that was the default entry unless you selected something different
when you initialized the system.
