Windows XP Home Edition OEM Activation

Hi there,

I have an OEM copy of WinXP Home which is installed on my secondary Hard
Drive.
I my currently running a dual boot setup between 2 hard drives.
On my Primary, I have install Vmware Player and setup the virtual machine
and assigned the entire secondary disk to it.
WinXP Home is loading up fine on VMware but requires me to re activate my
copy of windows.

I was reading about activation some time ago and read there was a limit on
the number of times you can activate Windows.

There are times I prefer to boot directly into WinXP home and times when I
prefer to use VMware to use WinXP Home.
I'm just wondering if the activation will keep on asking me to activate
everytime I switch from VMware to Direct Boot.
If it does, is there anythin I can do, Its given me 3 days to activate, and
I dont want to lockup my Serial Code.

No, it won't work that way. One machine and one product key. If you switch
back and forth too much, you will have to 'phone in' to activate again. No
activation means no updates.

First - there is no limit on activation. Internet activation in a given
timeframe - sure. Telephone activation - no.

Second - change your VMWare Player settings (memory, etc) to closer resemble
that it has when it is using the entire machine. It won't utilize it all -
but it will have access to it all and the hardware might be close enough at
that point to stop the activation requests. (That's why it is having you
activate each time - it thinks you have changed a lot of hardware and a new
activation 'signal' is being generated.)
 
So I can activate Over the internet an unlimited amount of times? But just
not too frequently?
Because I could just activate once every 3 days or something.

I will try change the vmware settings to virtually the same as what I've got
physically and see if that helps.
But because all the devices in VMwre are virtual its like a whole new PC.

I'm just worried that it will stop activating over the internet and I don't
want to be calling in everytime i need to activate.

That simply aint going to work.
Using VM, will require a seperate Licence
If you are constantly on the phone to reactivate every couple of weeks it
wont be long before reactivation is declined
