danny

i have just recently installed windows xp home edition on
a new computer and it was operating fine no problems for
about 3 weeks then i started getting freeze ups when i
first started windows, more so with outlook express 6
(freeze in the middle of reading an e.mail, also when i
was using real player for a couple of hrs. it suddenly
froze no other programs running at the time. the other
bad thing about it is my program manager will not come up
when i am in a freeze and i have to reboot all the time,
my updates are current, i use norton antivirus updates
ok, and fire wall ok. i also have yahoo messenger, kazza,
icq lite nero express , e donkey asusdvd 2000 sitting on
the desk top and i wonder if any of these programs could
be causing the problem even though they are not running
when other applications i am using are? baffeled????

Danny,

Check for spyware, which is not the same as viruses. Use Spybot S&D
and HijackThis (both free), and expert advice at SWI Forums. Complete
instructions at:

Cheers,

Chuck
I hate spam - PLEASE get rid of the spam before emailing me!
Paranoia comes from experience - and is not necessarily a bad thing.

The advice from Chuck is good - I have read previous
postings telling users to be suspicious of spyware
installed by kazza.
