Playing Wolfentstein enemy territory I changed my resolution to 1024x768 by
going to My display icon and then settings. The game appeared on my desktop
in the upper left side of desktop filling about 1/3 of desktop screen. The
game worked fantastic. After rebooting computer this setting no longer
appears on my desk top but rather is full screen. I would rather have the
setting I had on my desk top as the game seemed to work so much better that
way. Any explanation as to how to get this set back or why it suddenly
stopped working this way? The game itself in the setup section is set for
1024x768.

Using my display changes the display to in your case 1024x768. Changing the
resolution in the game changes what resolution the game only uses. For
instance, you might set the game to 640x480 and run it in a window. If the
original display resolution was greater than 1024x768, a low resolution
setting in the game might have produced the display appearance you
mentioned. To use the game at that resolution, it's usually necessary to run
it in a window, unless you want the game to take over the whold display
screen. Some laptops and LCD monitors behave a bit differently than the
norm, and are exceptions that are individually dealt with.
