Hi all.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

My client has a Samsung laptop running Windows XP Home. He has a slight
hardware conflict problem with it (basically he couldn't dial out because
the Comm port was 'aparently' already in use), and so earlier I attempted to
fix the problem.

Using Starter, I disabled everything that started automatically on his
laptop, in order to try and work out what was conflicting with the Comm
port. However, after rebooting, when you get prompted with the log-in box
and click on OK, Windows looks like it is going to boot up, but then
automatically logs-off, and leaves you back at the log-in dialogue box. I
cannot log on as Guest as this account is disabled, and there are no more
accounts set up on this laptop.

I get the same problem if I try to boot up in Safe Mode, and I have even
tried running the repair option on the Win XP Home CD but to no avail. If I
boot up with a system disk, I can see all of the data in DOS, but I can't
boot into Windows for love nor money. Any suggestions?

Thx,
Michael Dedman.

So safe mode doesn't bring up the admin account at all?
That's strange but i guess if u disabled it it wouldn't
be that strange. I'd say when u ran Starter it
unselected a logon file. But u probably already
concluded that. Unfortunately, i don't know how to
enable it via safe mode with command.

All i can think of is to start in safe mode with command
and then run explorer.exe I don't recall if u have to
log in or not, so this is just a suggestion upin the
air. But if it ran u'd get to see the desktop in it's
16bit glory.
