I have Windows XP home ed. It was preinstalled on my computer when I bought
it. I don't think I got a CD with it on it. I was wanting to install the
back-up park of the program. Can I download it from the MS site?

Really? Can you provide a link? AFAIK, it is not available as a download.

I'm beginning to wonder at the common sense of some people. Do you seriously
think that MS would put a £100 operating system on their site for anyone to
download, thus losing billions of pounds in revenue?! You didn't think
before putting fingers to keys, did you?

If you are unsure how to restore your computer, you will need to contact the
manufacturer- MS cannot assist you.

CL didn't ask about downloading an OS, just the 'back-up part' - also they
never even mentioned restoring.

Just as well there's an MVP on this site who helped instead of criticising &
was good enough to supply a direct download link to NTBACKUP.

Hi:

Don't know where can you get the program and someone may have pointed you
the direction, but I would still recommend you to call the vendor and have
the disc.

You may continue to experience similar problems if you do not have the
genuine CD and besides, it is your rights to have the disc. For example,
what you're going to do if you buy a new system, hard drive, or the current
one is corrupted for any possible reasons?

So might as well to call the vendor and have them to give the CD for future
use.

Hope this will help.

An OEM distributor does not have to supply a Windows XP CD with a computer.
If the sell the system with XP loaded they only have to supply a means for
restoring the computer back to it's original state when it was shipped. Many
manufacturer's opt to provide Restore CDs. Some simply create a hidden
partition where the image is stored and the means to access it.

You have a Restore Partition on your Hard Drive. If you had bothered to
contact the manufacturer, or had bothered to read the manual, you would have
known that. Please don't embarrass yourself by asking "how do I"...here.
Just RTFM or contact the manufacturer for instructions.

You really are an illiterate cünt, aren't you? Did you not read before putting your fingers on the keyboard? I suggest you promptly apologize for being utterly mistaken of the OP's intention, but mostly for continuing to live amongst humans!
