windows xp hiding bytes where are they

i make one new partition in my hd whith 30 gigas and after o make it and format in ntfs i go to check the hd and says that i have used 64 mb in my hd partition. grr ... i don´t even put no fiele there and whith xp allready is killing my 64 mb in my hd for what and where is this files because i can´t see any there because there is no file there ..
somente know what is this and how can i catch the 64 mb missing ...

I am not sure how much, but the format/partitioning process uses some
space.

Pedro,

When you format a partition or volume as a file system - there are certain
data structures that have to be placed on the disk to actually allow the
file system to exist such as the Master File Table (MFT). A Windows NTFS
format files system has initial 2 copies of this files created along with
certain other structures (the journal file/change log etc)

Think of it like you have a pile of book to store - so you build a book case
to put them on in a nice order. Look at the book case, it is made of stuff
that takes up space (however small) such as the thickness of the shelves,
the sides and back etc. That is the overhead of the storage structure in the
empty space of your room to store your books.
64Mb out of 30Gb is an insignificant amount of space
