Hello....... I'd like to know if there is any way to format a drive under Windows XP in a format OTHER than NTFS....?? I'd prefer to use FAT 32. Right now, I am forced to have the system boot from the CD-ROM instead of the floppy (as I'm accustomed too) and format the drive and install the OS. I'd also like to know is there a way to "change" the "look"of Windows XP to be like Windows '98, ME, etc...?? Any help would be appreciated. You can e-mail to: (e-mail address removed)

As far as I'm concerened, except for those dual-booting to an
older operating system without NTFS support, NTFS is best for
almost everyone. But it's entirely optional. You can use FAT32 if
you prefer. The only restriction is that you can't create a FAT32
partition larger than 32GB.

But even then, if your drive is larger than FAT32, you can fdisk
and format it with a diskette from aWindows Me or 98 and create
the partition(s) you want. Windows XP will happily use a FAT32
partition larger than 32GB, it just won't create one.

You want what's called the "classic" look. Look up "classic" in
Help and Support.

Sorry, no E-mail support.

Why don't you set OE to Group messages by thread?

I do.I also set it to show only unread messages as well. I don't want to
wade through hundreds of read messages to find the original question when
the OP is not conforming to newsgroup usage.

As do I, and as do many newsgroup participants. Messages without
quotes are usually incomprehensible, and I simply bypass them.
Anyone who wants to be understood by the entire newsgroup
community needs to adhere to standard netiquette and quote enough
of the message he's replying to to put his message into context.
