I rescently upgraded my gforce 3 to a gforce fx 5200 256
mb vram card. ok i installed it with no problems. i go to
install my drivers and all hell breaks loose. i got a
weird error like device can't start. so i get the most
updated drivers and my comp constantly crashes. so i find
some out dated drivers and that stabalized my comp. but
now i can't run games, the comp crashes when any graphics
start.

SOMEBODY HELP ME!!!!!!
I am open to any and all suggestions.

Thank You

Did you install basic VGA drivers before you made the
hardware switch and then install the correct drivers for you
card?

Have you new drivers on CD or downloaded where you can point
to them. Use the device manager to remove the video card
and reboot. It should be detected as new hardware and you
can point to the correct drivers when it installs.

You should have uninstalled the old drivers first, then have windows boot
using the basic VGA drivers before installing the new card and drivers.

I'm having problems, too. XP says nVidia device manager is
incompatible with XP. And uninstall it before you upgrade
to XP. I've tried all manner of combinations, but all I
get when I install the card is a messy display. I can't
read any of the messages, buttons I'm supposed to push or
anything. No one seems to be able to help.

I Have this card. Honestly, its not your sound card or
drivers with the problem. Its the AGP to CPU controller. If
you don't have the AGP version of this sound card, like me,
then Windows is using IRQ steering to provide it with a
channel to talk to your processor. If you have an upgraded
sound card, then this is being shared with the Video card.
#1 Flaw with xp. I can't even map a DMA channel to my sound
card under XP... which brings me here.. Yet lets take care
of your issue first.

If you have a AMD processor head on over to ViaArena.com.
There very first update under thier downloads section is
the 4 n 1 driver. Get that driver and install it. If it is
a PCI card and you have a integrated video device, then
disable the AGP control. It is found here:

Start > R-click my computer > manage > device manager >
System > AGP Controller.

If you have an intell system then you have to download and
install thier chipset utility. Then you can use that
utility to figure out what motherboard chipset you have and
then find the Graphics controller on thier site. Be wary,
it sounds like you have an older system. If you have a P3,
chances are you wont be able to get this a new graphics
controller at all. Don't start downloading stuf at random
from this site, just because you might have similar
products in your device manager doesn't mean that intel's
updates will work. Everything but the graphics controller
will not work on any other boards than intell ones. aka if
u have an intell processor on a HP pc, don't DL thier IDE
Controller... I did that once and had to re-install my OS.

Sound card DO NOT COME in AGP version!

Install the update to date chipset drivers for the motherboard chipset.
