was it not designed to include them? basically how do i
get them?
please and thanks!
.
Windows XP uses visual styles, Microsoft tried to make it
to were you can only use signed visual styles. But there
are ways around this.
1) Goto
www.tgtsoft.com, And download StyleXP. It allows
you to used unsigned visual styles on XP. But its
shareware, So after a month you have to buy it.
or
2) Goto
www.lightstar1.com/install.htm and grab the
UXTheme.dll patch, install it following their directions,
Reboot. You can now use unsigned visual styles free..
This is what I use. After its installed, You can download
themes/visual styles from..
www.themexp.org (look through their visual styles)
Installing them is easy, just copy the files to
Windows\Resources\Themes directory.. If the file you
downloaded has an actuall .theme file, In display
properties, is a theme tab.. find the theme there to
activate it. If it is just a .msstyles file, copy to the
same directory as above, but this time double click
the .msstyles file to install it. It will bring up
display properties, in the appearance tab. ( It may not
show ) until you click ok.. then it will show.. now it
will always be listed in appearance.
Good luck!
PS.. look at
www.lightstar1.com, As he creates theme, you
can find some at his site. (which self install)
