whether I'm online at the time or not. The only way to get
the PC to respond is to cycle it off and back on. Major
headache when I'm online and/or in the middle of
something. Only thing I've been able to track down is that
the SAVSCAN, ccEvtMgr and ccSetMgr processes show up in
the system error log every time this happens. No device
conflicts; all hardware supposedly working properly. IBM
6594-82U PC, Pentium III, 600 mHz. Any suggestions? This
is driving me nuts!

This kind of problem can be difficult to diagnose. First
thing I'd check would be hardware. Check your fans and
make sure your computer is not overheating. What are you
doing when this happens? Are you running a particular
program? Maybe corrupted files. This kind of problem
happened to my wifes computer recently and I couldn't
isolate it down to one source. I ended up reloading her
operating system and software and the problem vanished.
As I said in the beginning this particular kind of program
is hard to isolate. Have you added any new hardware to
the system recently? The possibilites are endless. Good
luck.
