Windows XP Pro hangs and slows down even if no
applications are running. Task Manager shows that
Winlogon.exe is using 99% of the CPU, which accounts for
the system being slow to respond. The memory usage and
thread count remain about the same. Winlogon is spinning
out of control.

The system is running McAffe Virusscan, Windows
Messenger, Windows Update and SonicWall VPN Client.

What is the best way to find out what is causing

Can I turn on debug logging for Winlogon in Windows XP
and how? Do I put something in Win.ini to turn on logging
to a file?

It seems to happen at odd times every day.

I am desparete to solve this problem.

Thanks,
pac
