Windows XP Freezing

I recently installed XP about two and a half weeks ago.
It worked beautifully until three days ago when for no
reason, it starts freezing. Not a particular program
freezes, the whole computer freezes. I have to do a hard
reboot to get it back up. I know XP is supposed to be
super reliable so I'm quite confused why this happens.
It doesn't happen at any set interval, it just happens.
I've already tried reinstalling XP but it made no
difference. Please advise, I'm getting desperate.

The most vital issues for XP are not compatible hardware
devices, or bad device drivers, or not enough RAM, memory
installed, ( 256 MB is minimum, but try for 512 MB ). So
run a diagnostic test on your PC system which includes a
memory test, and be sure all the device drivers are
current updated versions, such as the video, sound, and
the Network cards. Also check the cooling fans so as to
avoid over-heating issues. Even a faulty or weak power
supply unit can cause this freezing, or loose components
or connections outside and inside the PC case.
