My question is that if I have a 3rd party firewall such as
Norton Internet security, should I have the win xp pro
firewall enabled for possible more added security or will
this create a loophole?

I'd disable XP's firewall. A good 3rd part firewall, properly
configured, does everything that it does and more. There's no benefit
to running both, and it could cause problems.

The Norton firewall will do the job of the XP firewall
and more. There is no reason to have more than one
firewall active at the same time on the same computer.

I don't think you need to open Wins XP firewall (although
I am not sure whether opening both will cause great
problems).

What I know is 3rd part specialized firewalls (eg Norton)
are far too good to cover all the functions of Wins XP
firewall (as it is jsut basic indeed).

Open just 1 specialized firewall which takes on (nearly)
all the work of Wins XP.
