I hope I am posting to the correct group, if not please point me in
the right direction.

I have recently set up XP fax on my lap top. To test if all was
working properly I sent a test fax to my YAC number. I expect you
already know how this works but just in case anyone does not and is
interested I shall explain.

YAC supply a number that if a fax is sent to it, the fax is delivered
by email as a .tiff or pdf document. The service is free although the
sender pays rather a high price for the privilege. Prior to this, on
the few occasions it has been used the service has worked well.

When the test fax was received the original 6Kb document transmitted
had been reduced to 3KB and all I could see was the top and bottom of
the message. I repeated the test on two more occasions changing from
pdf to tiff attachments but with the same result.

I have asked YAC if the problem is at their end but have not yet
received a reply.

Is it possible XP fax is causing the problem? If so, can anyone
suggest how I can fix it?

All advice gratefuly received.

I have received a reply to my query from YAC and it appears the fax
was corrupted when received, therefore the culrpit must be the XP fax
system.

Can anyone suggest what is causing this?

Is the fax that you successfully sent to YAC number residing in the "Sent
Items" folder on XP fax client, the same that you got back from YAC? If the
fax shows up in the "Sent Items" folder on fax console shows up fine then i
would suspect the problem to be on the service provider.

All the faxes in the Sent Items are complete and show 6Kb.

I repeated the experiment with another fax to email provider and
experienced the same result. I ought to send to a conventional fax
machine to find out if the same problem manifests itself.

Yes, it is good to check that. Please post your findings to this newsgroup.
