How many times can you do a factory restore before you
have to buy the program again?

A "factory restore" as in a "special program the computer manufacturer
provided?" Should be able to restore as many times as you want or need to.

Yes, that is what I mean. I keep loosing my cd drives.
They keep disappearing and I've done everything I know to
do and have been told to do to fix the problem. Nothing
works though, so I thought this might fix my problem.
This happened twice before. System Restore will not
help. Factory restore does, I was just afraid they would
only let you do it a limited number of times before I
might have to buy the xp program again.
Thanks for replying.

If factory restore resolves the issue, then it's likley something you are
installing on your system after the factory restore that is the source of
the issue. Do you have a CD Writer, if yes, are you installing softwarew
for that writer, if yes, what software and what version of that software?

Thank you for replying. Yes, I do have a CD writer. I
downloaded dvd clone Pro to back up my dvd's with just
recently. I have since deleted it though. However this
problem did occur before I downloaded that program. The
only other thing I usually have going on is Sims. I
recently purchased a new game, as I was installing it,
this time my computer crashed. I have even tried to do
the factory restore with my recovery cd, and my computer
will not go through this process. It doesn't detect the
disk after restarting from shut down. HELP! HELP! HELP!
I just don't know what to do now.....

First thing to do would be to contact your system's tech support to resolve
the system recovery issue, then we can work on the other problems. We can't
help with the recovery unless someone on this board happens to have the same
setup and experience with your manufacturer's recovery routine as that is
proprietary to the manufacturer.
