I recently installed Service Pack 3 on my Windows XP Pro computer.
Since then the Windows Explorer Search Function does not work properly

When I click start - search - all files and folders - the search box
comes up properly.

When I try to search for a file name, the search window comes up that
says "searching for files...," but nothing happens. The hour glass
comes up, but nothing happens.

After waiting a couple of minutes, the program DOES start responding,
but runs slowly.

If I try to close out the search box by clicking "X" , I get a message
"This program is not responding..."

The search function worked fine before going from SP1 to SP3 (I had
never installed SP2)

Any ideas?

What is the CPU and how much RAM does your computer have? Right click on
the My Computer icon on your Desktop and select Properties to get this
information.

Try Ctrl+Alt+Delete to select Task Manager and click the Performance
Tab. Under Commit Charge what is the Total, the Limit and the Peak?
