When my computer lies idle for 30 seconds my computer
exits to the Windows XP Welcome Screen where the users
are listed and I have to log back in. How do I stop this
or at least modify it to exit to the welcome screen after
say 10 minutes or more if the computer is idle?

Hi,

This is to do with how your screen saver is configured.
Right click your desktop and select properties. Go to the
screensave tab and check the options listed. (i forget
exactly which one it is).

Regards,

Tim

Turn off the "On resume, display Welcome Screen" feature:
Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Display.
Click the Screen Saver tab, click to clear the On Resume, display
Welcome screen check box.

(and)

Configure your computer to not prompt you to type a password when you resume
from standby:
Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Power Options.
On the Advanced tab, click to clear the Prompt for password when
computer resumes from standby check box, and then click OK.
