Hello everyone,

Recently I have been unable to burn data or audio to a CD or CDRW. The files
appear in the tempory file waiting to be written to disk. But once prompted
to burn to disk the task stalls and the following error messages is displayed:

"Cannot Complete Cd Writing Wizard"

This appears to be a fairly common Error. Searching the topic on the WWW
produces hundereds of results. But none have provided a fix for this error.

I have searched extensivly through Microsoft Support for some idea of the
cause of this, and how it might be avoided. As yet I have found nothing that
diecctly addresses the Error.

I have attempeted all the recommendations suggested that I have come
accross. For example reducing the writing speed, using different brands of
disk, checking disk fragmentation, checking that the tempory file is not
full, system corruption due to malicious software.

So I'm hoping that someone here may have experienced the samr error and
might be able to advise of how to correct this frustrating problem.

Skygel.

One of the primary reasons for this error is, that the total of the size
of the music files exceeds the empty/available space on the CD.
Try to add the total of Mbs of the files so they do not exceed 560Mbs
and that should work. Good luck :~)

G'day Byte,

Thanks for that.

I will keep that in mind if I get the error message in future.

I have however been getting the 'Cannot complete CD writing Wizard' error
repeatedly even with small files.

It has been suggested to me that this problem might be associated with the
hardware configuration. And that Windows may at times get 'confused' about
the pathway to a drive.

It was suggested that I shut down the computer and removre the CD burner.
And then boot it up again. Then reinstall cd burner. During this process
Windows will recognise the 'new' cd burner and also search for the apporpiate
drivers for the device.

I havn't attempted this yet, So I will post the results once I have tried
it. Trouble is I can't navigate my way to this fourm from the Microsift Home
Page! It is crazy and frustrating. Hopfull I will work that out.

Reguards,

Skygel.
