We have win2k Domain, with 2-300 clients all XP, tho we
keep have problems with about 4 or 5 client machines just
all of a sudden loosing there network settings. All the
map drives won't reconnect even though we Use a logon
Script, Can't change the ID or membership of the machine
either because it says networking is not installed or is
not started. Some of them will connect to the servers via
UNC paths fine but the map drives are buggered, then it
will just randomly hang when going onto the start menu.
CTRL-ALT-DEL does nothing either, it won't comne up and
the taskbar completely disapears leaving the outline of
the start menu. You could leave it at this stage forever
and it won't sort its life out !!!! Very
Annoying !!! .....We keep re-imaging these machines so
that staff can access work and e-mails etc....allthough
this is only a temporary fix because the problem somehow
Creeps back onto the same machines. I have had a Generic
host Process Error come up with no Timeout, I have seen
talk of a shut down in 60 secs one, but this is not what
I get. The Error has no source either i.e. AppName
etc.... Really need to get this sorted it's causing me
loads of grief at work !! Any help would be grately
Appreciated man ! Ta

Have you scanned the problematic computers for
viruses and spywares?
