Windows XP does not complete start-up

I have Windows XP Home Edition. When I turn on my computer, the Windows
screen comes up and the status bar in the center of the screen begins
tracking with blue dots from right to left. However, the startup does not
finish and the blue dots keep on tracking until I turn off the computer. Any
suggestions for fixing this problem would be appreciated.

Hi DG,

Please tell us what types of Hard Drives are installed in your computer.
Is this a new install of Windows XP Home Edition?
Do you have the Windows Installation CD, where you can repair Windows?
