My Dell 1505 (XP) does not Turn Off correctly. When I click "Turn Off" I
get a box entitled "End Program - sprtcmd.exe". It gives me the option of
"Cancel" to return to Windows to check the status of the program thats
running or to "End Now" and lose any unsaved data.

No other programs are running that I can see (I did an alt-ctrl-delete to
check if any are running). After the green bar runs its course(about 5
seconds), this box closes and a new box opens with the same title (End
Program-sprtcmd.exe), but now informing the "Program is not responding". I
have the same two choices. If I click "Cancel" I return to the desktop
screen. If I click "End Now" the computer will close down.
I dont know if I lose anything or not but computer does close down.

run msconfig

then disable that application in "startup"

reboot and save the change to msconfig

I have a similar problem, but when I do a search there are 3 sprtcmd.exe.
One has the following sprtcmd.exe-19coda25.pf and this is in
C:\windows\prefetch Do you think the problem is Windows or Dell? PS the
third one is Quest my DSL provider. Thanks, Jan
