Windows XP Desktop

For some reason my desktop seems to be partially locked up. I can't click
and drag desktop icons. Also, when i double click and open a picture for
instance, it will open in a Windows Picture and Fax Viewer style window, but
it will have no navigational tools at the bottom(arrow buttons, etc).

I do not know why this is going on, nor do i know how to remedy it.

Anyone able to help?

Do you see a picture?

Try re-registering this file by typing the following the Command Prompt
window:

regsvr32 shimgvw.dll

If this does not solve your problem then can you give me the file extensions
causing this problem?For example, .bmp, .jpg, .gif.
