My computer runs Windows XP and yesterday it crashed. I
mean, everytime I turn on the computer it starts scanning
one of the drives because it is supposed that an error
exists. Furthermore, it starts the scanning but after a
few minutes the system collapses and I cannot use it
anaymore so I have to switch off my computer and start
again. Anyway, I have tried loads of times but it does not
work. The worst thing is that I do not have a back up of
my files so I cannot use the system recovery CD's. What
can I do?

The first rule is backup what you can't afford to lose. Better luck next
time.
Don't give up yet. Does it complete the scan?

Please define "...the system collapses". If there is an error message
associated with this then please provide the complete *verbatim* text
of that error message include all of the error codes.

Can you get the computer to boot into Safe Mode or by using the "last
known good configuration"?

Without some clear and precise descriptions of exactly what is
happenning with your computer it is extremely difficult to determine
what the problem might be.

See for additional advice as to what you
should include in a newsgroup posting seeking assistance with a
problem.

Good luck
