I just had xp fully installed.. and I changed the Start menu appearance to
the Classic
start menu. I want to remove the 'my pictures' and the list of the recent
accessed items
from showing on the start menu. All I want is the 'my documents to appear.
I'm having
trouble figuring this out. I went into the start menu properties..customize
advanced >..
and looked for some check box, but I didn't see anything obvious.

Thanx for any help

If you right-click the Start button and choose Properties, you'll find
options to customize the Start Menu via Add and Remove buttons, and
other options..

I looked at that.. (customize > remove..folder tree) and it doesn't show the
thing(s)
that I want to remove... (nothing between start menu folder and programs)
<shrug>.

Customize in the properties for the XP style menu will add or remove
items such as My Pictures from the start menu. For the classic menu, you
get a choice between expand (flyout menu) or not (folder shortcut).

Recent Documents has been a feature of all of the classic start menus.

There are probably third party tools (TweakUI for XP, perhaps?) that can
add/remove classic start menu items that you don't want. There is also
an MS Knowledge Base article that describes some policy settings that
can be created in the registry. These can be used to control what
appears or not on the Start Menu (the article doesn't seem to
distinguish between classic vs xp style start menus):
