Jim

I went to start my friends computer up yesterday and when
I clicked on the icon to enter windows xp the error
message said, Windows was unable to accurately check the
liscensing of this product. I installed a full version of
windows xp home addition about a month and a half ago and
never had any problems till last night. Everything on the
computer is legit. For some reason I can get into
safemode with command prompt and by itself but I cannot do
it with networking (same error). I ran a virus check and
everything. When I tried to start it in normal mode it
did a physical memory dump. I'm thinking he might of
downloaded a virus or something, he also did not have the
latest security patches. Can anyone please help???
Appreciate it

In Safe Mode,

go to start/run, and type

regsvr32.exe regwizc.dll

OK, then,

regsvr32.exe licdll.dll

Did you or your friend activate Windows XP over the
internet? Yhey give you 30 days to do it. I guess after
that it self destructs.

I guess after that it self destructs.

No, it just will only load Safe mode.

Maybe you can help me out with my little problem, Rick.
It's a long story but I have Windows XP Home Edition on
both partitions, C: and D: with a boot menu that asks me
to choose between them. I don't want Windows XP on D:
and I don't want that boot menu. I'm the only one using
my computer. I've tried getting rid of them but they're
fighting me all the way. How can I do it without
insulting my computer? :=)

Hi,

Boot the one on C:\, open Windows Explorer and delete the system folders on
D:\

Start/run C:\boot.ini

Remove the line referencing the D:\ installation from the [operating
systems] section. It's probably the line that contains partition(2).

Thanks, Rick! It worked and it took only a couple of
minutes! I guess the problem before was I was deleting
the default system.

You don't think MicroSoft will be mad at me for
activating Windows four times, do you? It sure was some
ordeal to get this thing going. Every step worked great
but I wound up adding more steps than was necessary.

You can activate as many times as you want as long as the OS is on the same
computer on which it was originally installed.
