have Windows Xp and recently upgraded the motherboard to a Asus P4C800 Deluxe. I have a sony dvd writer and a LG Dvd cd-rw drive.
I have a PhotoSmart P1100 Printer. And here's what happened. I installed the new motherboard and booted up and had to reinstall windows xp because of a hardware change. Everything went fine and everything works, except My LG Drive is named PhotoSmart card reader.
I tried deleting the printer and all references to hp in the registry, to no avail. This only shows the name change in Windows Explorer. In Device Manager is shows the proper name. The drive works fine except for being named wrong in windows explorer. And the photosmart card reader shows as a removable drive and works ok. I would like to know how to change the name. You can rename your hard drive but it won't let you rename a cdrom drive.

Go to http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm and use the script on
