I recently formatted by boot drive and reinstalled windows xp home edition because I could not pinpoint the problem why my computer would reboot itself randomly. After reinstalling windows xp, the video and sound card drivers the computer was up and working properly. However, as soon as the windows xp completed its automatic update the computer reverted back to the same problem. Any ideas why this is occuring? I am not a computer expert but it appears to me that there is some problem with the windows xp update files. I appreciate any suggestions!!

Well something with your system and one of the updates is conflicting.
You can try selecting updates until you find the one that is causing the
problem and remember not to install it.

Use the restore feature to go back before the updates, unless it was the
update that did not allow a restore.

I don't know, but mine does the same thing. if I run winamp3 you can count on an automatic reboot within a few hours.
