Windows XP boot up disk

I have just purchase a new computer with Windows XP Home Edition.
I just realised that there is no "3 and half inch" floppy drive in it. How
to I create a BOOT UP DISK without a floppy drive (is a "boot up disk" the
same as a MS DOS start up disk?).
I was hoping I could create a CD BOOT UP disk instead but is this possible?
When I select the CD drive, then go to "file", "format" there is no option
for "create a boot up disk".
I am new to all this and this might be a stupid question but I would
appreciate any help available.
Many Thanks. Yappy Box

Since all Windows XP CD disks are bootable; since modern software
applications are so large as to require CDs rather than floopy disks; and
since backing up systems to floopy disk is no longer feasible, some
manufacturers have determined that floopy drives are unnecessary.
[Note that Windows NT/ 2000/ XP do not ride on MS DOS, so an MS DOS boot
disk is moot.]

What Steve said. To use the bootable disk you already have, make sure the
BIOS' boot order has the CD before the HDD. Put your Windows XP Home CD in
the drive and restart. Watch the screen carefully and hit a key when
prompted.

Press R when asked about options, and one other option that gets you to the
"Recovery Console". (Dont recall the steps exactly, but once you're in this
far it's intuitive) Enter the password for the administrator account, and
you get a command prompt.

It's limited but in some ways more powerful than any boot disk this side of
the Win 98 ERD....which is/was a good one.

The boot diskette is a thing of the past, as all legitimate WinXP
installation CDs are already bootable.

Other than the bootable CD (WinXP's) you already have, why do you
expect to need another? Is there some problem you're trying to address.

Anyway, Google is your friend:
