Do anyone know a good solution to backing up data?
Using the utility on XP, it will not address a CD or DVD, leaving a: drive
only. I do not have a lot on my computer, but I figure it would take about 6
boxes of floppies!!
Using the XP backup you can backup to HDD as well as to floppy. Do
that first, then copy the backup to CD/DVD - provided your data is
less than one CD/DVD - the XP backup software won't allow splitting
the backup into CD/DVD sized chunks. Also, to backup all of C: you
will need to create another partition to backup to, if you haven't got
a 2nd HDD or partition already - as you can't backup something to
itself.
If you have more than one CD/DVD worth of data and/or want a reliable
backup of your complete system or the O/S, then buy a 3rd party backup
programme. There are lots - do a Google search - but I like Norton
Ghost. You could try free ones like Cobain too, but they are more
limited and slow for large system backups. I use Cobain for daily
automatic scheduled data backups and Ghost for full system backups.
