I have a windows xp home edition laptop. Got a keychain
memory yesterday in order to backup my files. Went to
Start, Programs,Accessories, System Tools and there is no
option for BACKUP! I've done this on other XP computers
(and 98) I went to Control Panel, Add programs, add
windows components, and there was no option there.
Obviously, I can do it by hand, but I'd like to have a
regular backup of the same stuff. Any ideas on how to get
this option installed? Thanks.

Insert the XP or Rescue CD, and run NTBACKUP.MSI program
from the folder D:\valueadd\msft\ntbackup

In XP Home the ASR Floppy Disk does not work .

here is how to use it;

I read somewhere that you should not install the back up
onto a laptop.if your backing up data do it manually if
its the os you want to backup then your better off with
powerquest drive image because it copys the os from DOS
so no files are open , more acurate copy.

The backup utility needs to be installed from the Home
CD. go to the XP support page and search for how to
backup.
