That page has the information you need.
Another way to find the Address Book and messages:
For the Address Book, search for this:
*.wab
That is,
Start | Search | All Files and Folders
In the box "All or part of the file name", type:
*.wab
Under More Advanced Options, make sure the following are checked:
Search hidden files and folders
Search subfolders
Click Search.
The default location should be:
C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Application
Data\Microsoft\Address Book
Regarding messages, all these files have the .dbx extension. So
simply search for
*.dbx
The above being said, I still think you will find value in trawling
through that Web site.
Thanks Olorin. I did get somewhere, although I thought the details
on Leonard's link seemed a bit complicated but at the same time I
found a link on a Microft Help page referring specifically to XP
Backup. It appears that Outlook Express's Email Address Book and
Messages are included in the Documents section if ticked for
backup. However, for peace of mind, I shall trawl through the
details to fin it.
:
It was a separate discussion and my posts weren't replies to you!
Anyway, did you get anywhere with Leonard Grey's suggestion?
Not quite sure what you mean Olorin. I surrender. However, thanks
everyone for your interest. Best wishes. Brian

It wouldn't be an assumption, though, would it? More of an "if".
No need, anyway - LG did, and it paid off.
Why waste the time if the OP doesn't see fit to provide any
useful information, rather than catering to them I'd rather get
the required info
to provide a useful reply, I try not to reply based on
assumptions, your
free to do so if you like.

But since XP does come with an e-mail client, and only one, why
not make
a suggestion based on that, as LG did eight hours earlier?
This has nothing to do with XP, the answer depends entirely on
which email client your using, and as we have no idea we can't
give you an answer.

On my XP, I use other software for main backups but for quick
small backups
of personal settings such as Documents and web Favourites, I
use XP's
own
backup. Can anyone please tell me where in the backup setup I
can find
my
email address book and current email folders? At present I
export the
address
book to my desktop which I can then see in the backup setup
page but surely
there is a box somewhere to tick. I can't find it.
