hi...

is it possible to make a VPN connection between 2 windows xp machines and
then from there make vnc connections to machines in the remote workgroup.
the network would look like

remote
(192.168.0.xx)----->VPN(client/server192,168.20.xxx)---->LAN(192.168.0.xx)

without rras is there an issue connecting to the other machines

regards

I have done that from an iPAQ 3835 PocketPC, ie. establish the VPN link then access/control one or
more PCs with VNC or the PPC Terminal Services Client. It works very well and you only need to open
one port on any firewall/NAT/router...

I've tried this and there doesn't seem to be a way that the server side VPN
connection can route to the remote LAn.
i can view the XP pro machine that the VPN connection terminates on, but
can't move out from that to the other machines on the LAN.
what am i forgetting to do.

I setup a 'hosts' file on my local LAN machines and my PocketPC that maps local IP addresses to
names. Perhaps that may help. Note that I use static IP addressing on my home LAN. Here is my
PocketPC VPN page that illustrates my use of a 'hosts' file on a remote VPN client...
