I have three PCs (1 XP home, 2 2000 pros) connected with a router/hub. Shared internet access works fine. XP is connected with the internet (USB BB Modem) and connected with the hub with Ethernet card. Had the same setup with 3 2000Pros, no problems. Now I am trying to share printer and documents attached to XP. The Pros see eachother, but the XP is nowhere to be seen.
Looked around the internet and microsoft support pages, but seem unable to find a solution to this problem

Time for Linux? Or any other ideas

Cheers,

Cheers,

Make sure that ICF is disabled on the XP PC. Un install all other
firewalls totally.

Have you checked the Network Identification tab (under My Computer, properties) to make sure all three machines belong to the same workgroup? You don't have Win2k server so you don't have a domain ( WinXP Home doesn't support being a member of a domain anyway, for that you need WinXP Pro). I think the default workgroup name is "workgroup" but you may have had a different name setup for when you had the three Win2K boxes

Yep, I have checked that, even tried different names. Still no change.

Thanks for the advice. Before I posted I have looked everywhere for solutions, and the Firewall is one of the most frequently mentioned. Tried everything with and without firewalls.
I don't understand how it can be so difficult to connect two computers with software from the same company. Also Microsoft itsself (as far as I know) says nothing about this, even though there seem to be many with similar problems
