Windows XP and NIC problems

My Windows XP Pro is now coming up with a message stating that my network
cable is not plugged in, which is false. After 30 minutes of fooling around
with the network adapter settings and the adapter in device manager, the
cable status changed to "connected". This is the second time it happened!
Last Friday, not only did my network adapter "fail" to connect with the
cable but I also lost my XP Pro activation.

What should I do to correct this??

Hello

Repalce your network card, also you will need to contact
MS for a so you can re-activate XP

Besides replacing your nic, you may want to check the network cable itself
or replace that one before you get a new network card.

You've been having rather a lot of errors lately. If this is the same
box that lost its activation, perhaps the motherboard is going or the
hard drive. I don't remember what hardware diagnosis you said you did,
but if you didn't do any - I think it's time. Anything I can do to
help, just ask.

Cheers,

Malke

I have done the re-activate last Friday.
