I have two computers using Windows XP Professional that
are networked with a crossover cable (no hub) I have one
of the computers set up to share the internet with the
other computer. It works great. My question is: I have
signed up to get DSL, haven't gotten the equipment yet,
but I was wanting to know if DSL can be shared the same
way or should I get a DSL router?
Thanks
Becky

Greetings Becky,

I beleive your best option would be to purchase a router.
You'll find it useful, and if not you may find it useful
in the future.

Yes, DSL can be shared the same way, provided that your Internet
sharing computer has an available Ethernet or USB port for connecting
the DSL modem.

I agree with Eric that it's better to get a router. A few DSL modems
have a router built in. Most DSL modems don't, so you connect them to
the WAN (Internet) port of a router.

Seeing as Boxing day is coming up, I'd take a look at your local electrics
store, they probably have a cheap router for sale. Plus if you upgrade
and add another machine, it'll be a lot easier to add it with a router
already there.
