Ive run through all the Microsoft tech pages looking for an answer.
I've done all the regsvr32 on the DLL listed.
I have XP home with IE 6. My system is clean and I run Zonealarm,
norton, and several Anti-spy programs. Every scan is clean and every
works well except:
Here is what's happening.
When trying System Restore, no matter how far I go back, it always
reports there have been no changes on my computer, yet I know they
have.
Several of the File associations for running a paritcular windows file
have been "lost." (the file asks me to "select a file to run a
program."
IE is still doing the BLANK window when "opening a new-separate" IE
web window.
I am thinking somehow my XP SP2 has lost something, some file
associations, some screwup in the Registry. I really don't want to
reinstall the entire XP 1 from CDs....and lose everything...then start
all over and bring down XP2 again. Is there a way to "fill in" or
reinstall XP2 without losing the entire setup?
any help here would be truly appreciated. I'm using a HP notebook,
5400 series that normall runs like a fine tuned clock.
