Can I install them both on the same cpu... I'm having a
problem playing some software (ok so Im a gamer) and I
want to play some of the older games which arent able to
play on my pc. So I was wondering if I could install
both windows XP and 98 on my pc. I have the windows 98
disc but it doesnt seem to want to install and the auto
run menu doesnt have an install button on it.

Any help would be nice

Strictly speaking, you install the operating system on the hard drive, not
the CPU. Yes, you can install both operating systems on a single hard drive.
Backup any data you want to keep, otherwise, it'll be gone for good.
You'll need to boot from the Windows 98 CD, delete any existing partitions
with Fdisk.exe and create at least two partitions. I suggest three, not
necessarily of the same size. Format the newly created C: partition and
install Windows 98. Format D: using the NTFS file system and install Windows
XP. Format the third partition FAT32. This way, both Windows 98 and XP can
"see" the third partition and use it.

KC,

Before you go thru this hassle, have you tried running these programs in
Compatibility Mode? It is likely that they will work just fine in WinXP if
you do this.

Go to the executable file for your program, right-mouse click on it and
choose Properties, now choose the Compatibility tab and then check the box
to run it in Compatibility Mode. Choose Win95 or Win98 as you wish.

Give this a shot first, then do as suggested by others (install dual boot
with both Operating Systems) only if this won't work.
