I can't get wondows to start. I got it in safe mode but
still wouldn't restore the system for me.when I get to
the directory service restore mode it tell me it's
checking file system in drive c. Then I get the
message "the volume is clean" I tried the restore CD, I
get system restore manual then options
1- restore windows XP
2- boot to command prompt from CD ROM
then it says
Please select 1 or 2
1,2?2
A:/ (I get a blinking cursor)
it doesn't let me select an option by highlighting it.
Iam not sure what to do from here. I tried typing setup
or C:/ no matter what I type its gives message "bad
command or file name. Please help me. I usually figure it
out but Iam stuck. Please send help to (e-mail address removed)
under subject please type windows help so that I wouldn't
delete it. Thank you all for the help. Liz.

It sounds like you're trying to use a Restore CD from your system maker.
(Judging by the output, it looks like the "boot to command prompt" window is
automatically being selected.)

You may want to try contacting your system manufacturer for additional
assistance.
